Editorial supervisor of radio programs; created and wrote Kraft Music Hall, ten years. World War II, O.W.I, consultant. Songs: "You Are the One"; "Moonlight on a White Picket Fence"; "I Met My Baby in Macy's"; "Time Has Come to Bid You Adieu", "Mish-Mosh Polka"; "Tell Ya Momma"; "Why Woncha"; "Never Ask a Man if He's From Texas." Carroll, Earl, author, theatrical pro­ducer; b. Pittsburgh, Pa., Sept. 16, 1893; d. Mt. Carmel, Pa. (plane crash), June 17, 1948. ASCAP 1914. At the age of ten began theatrical career as program boy; at sixteen worked his way around the world; 1912-17 staff songwriter New York music publishing house. Wrote lyrics for So Long Letty, Canary Cottage, and other shows. Pilot, U.S. Army Air Corps, in World War I. Theatrical manager, 1919. Opened first Earl Carroll Theater, New York, 1922-36, with series of productions, Earl Car­roll Vanities, thirteen in all. Also two "Sketchbook" revues. Built second Earl Carroll Theater, New York 1931. Former motion-picture producer. Authority on theater and stage con­struction. Built Earl Carroll Restau­rant in Hollywood 1939. Producer of more than sixty legitimate produc­tions and author of several New York stage shows.
